PREVIEW: Halifax Town vs Gloucester City

Gloucester City travel to 5th placed Halifax Town in the National League North

Gloucester City will make the trip to Halifax Town this weekend, as they look to build on their two game unbeaten run.

The Tigers – who drew 1-1 with Harrogate Town last weekend – are just eight points behind this weekend’s opponents, who were relegated from the National League at the end of last season.

The Shaymen are in impressive form however, with just one loss in their last ten games and will be looking to gain maximum points and cement their place in the play-off places with just nine matches left this season.

In the reverse fixture back in October, Billy Heath’s side registered a 2-0 win at the LCI Rail Stadium with goals from Alex Simmons and Liam King securing the victory. That victory is the fourth that Halifax have earned in the same amount of meetings between the two clubs.

Tim Harris will be without Darren Mullings yet again, and captain Tom Webb could also miss the trip with a back problem. Chris Knowles is set to recover from a knee injury earlier than expected, but is not likely to return until Alfreton next weekend.

Halifax have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Saturday. 27 year-old striker Tom Denton is well into double figures for the season with 14 goals while centre backs Matty Brown and Scott Garner have only conceded three goals in the last five league games.

Harris has his own gem in the form of Luke Hopper – who in is fine goalscoring form with one more goal than his opposite number – and is joint fourth in the scoring charts.
