Forest Green Rovers are the only Gloucestershire based side left in this seasons FA Cup following a weekend of fixtures across the Football League.
Mark Cooper’s side secured their place in the next round of the cup with a 1-0 win over non-league side Macclesfield Town at The New Lawn on Saturday.
The former Swindon Town and Notts County manager told his clubs website that he was “pleased we are in the hat.”
Cooper continued: “I thought we did ok, we were quite competent, we were quite disciplined and we defended well when we had to”.
Forest Green go into the draw as ball number 9, and Cooper has said his side are looking forward to Round 2, “we want a realistic chance of being in Round 3, we would rather be in it so we look forward to watching”.
Cheltenham Town are one side who will not be in the draw this evening as they became one of the casualties of a ‘Giant Killing’ by non-league side Maidstone United.
Gary Johnson stressed his disappointment with his side after the defeat saying, “It looked like I’d put the wrong team out after 20 minutes. Very poor from us at the start.”
For Johnson his attention now turns to tomorrow’s Checkatrade Trophy match against Newport County, a match which the manager has stated will be “good to help forget the Maidstone game altogether very quickly.”
The draw for the FA Cup 2nd Round will take place tonight at 7PM on BBC Two and BT Sport 1.
