Cheltenham Town football club has announced the signing of George Lloyd, an academy graduate who has now signed his first professional contract with The Robins. George has been on the fringes of the first team for some time, playing ties in the Checkatrade trophy and U21’s fixtures.
We spoke to George about the future and what he hopes to achieve at Whaddon road. “I feel delighted to have signed. All the hard work I put in has paid off and I’m buzzing to get going. I worked extremely hard to get my contract but it was worth it to achieve my dream.”
“I’m looking just to get as far as I can in the game. At the moment I’m in I’m just focusing on Cheltenham and working my hardest to get my football league debut and be a regular off the bench. I don’t like looking too far ahead and just take each day as it comes.”

“Just thanks for giving me the opportunity to be professional and I will work extremely hard to repay you. The response from the fans was amazing when I signed so I thank them for that. I can’t wait to make my football league debut but I need to wait for the right time. I’ve experienced first-team football in the Check-a-trade trophy and found it a good challenge so I’m buzzing to make my football league debut and have a new challenge.”
George has scored 25 goals in all competitions so far for the Robin’s and has impressed both management and fans alike in various outings, most notably against Swansea City in the Checkatrade trophy. Having been with the academy since he was nine years old, George has set his sights on the first team and hopes to impress on his football league debut.
