UEFA Nations League: England v Spain, ones to watch

There will be no shortage of talent in Monday night's game, but who are the stand out players?

England will hope to grab their first win in the UEFA Nations League tonight as they face Spain at Estadio Benito Villamarín. The team lineups have been announced, with a selection of top players featuring on Monday night.

So who are the ones to watch?

Harry Kane:

Harry Kane hasn’t been on the best of form for England of late, but there is no denying that whenever the striker features on the team sheet, he brings with him a massive goal threat.

Kane has failed to score in his past six appearances for England, his joint-longest goalless run for the national side but he showed exactly what he can bring throughout the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Kane bagged six goals, helping him to win the Golden Boot Award. Raul Albiol and Sergio Ramos will be fully aware of the danger the Spurs forward brings.

Marco Asensio:

Kieran Trippier will certainly have his hands full as he goes head to head with the Real Madrid winger. With a strong passing game, skilful dribbling and good pace, he can prove difficult to defend against and has proven so with a positive record at Madrid.

Spain go into the game having beaten Croatia 6-0, with Asensio winning the Man of the Match award having scored one and assisted three.

Iago Aspas:

The Celta Vigo striker has been impressive for Spain and his strong finishing game could cause problems for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Aspas has already scored two for Spain and in La Liga, he has five goals to his name in just eight appearences.

With Asensio and Rodrigo playing on either side of him, he is sure to be heavily involved and Harry Maguire and Joe Gomez will need to stay focused in order to deal with him.

Kieran Trippier:

Trippier returns to the side following a hugely successful World Cup which saw him quickly become a firm fans’ favourite.

He played as a wing back during the World Cup which saw him play a key role in England’s attacking play, but this time round he will play a more defensive role.

He’ll be less involved going forward, but still possesses the ability to bomb down the right. We all know he can take a free kick too.
