From EL Glosico to the Manchester derby, football is a competitive game. On a weekend dubbed “Derby Day” the three games definitely lived up to their expectation.

There’s no feeling quite like a victory in a derby match against your nearest and most-hated opponents. Sometimes it can help to win a league or cup, on other occasions it might seal your promotion or their relegation, but there’s no such thing as a meaningless derby.

These are the games that decide who laughs last and loudest in the office, classroom, shop-floor and forum. These are the games you love to win and hate to lose.

For Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers they have a fairly limited history in terms of competitive Football League head to head records. Unfortunately Gloucestershire was not rushed to the Football League party. Cheltenham didn’t reach the Football league until 1999, more than a century after it began, and Forest Green first reached League Two in the 2016-17 season after they defeated Tranmere Rovers in the Conference Play-off final at Wembley.

Stay tuned for a more in depth look into the two sides history coming up.
